The original Chapel was built by a Mr Thomas Dobson at his own
expense.
In 1887 the General Chapel Committee of the Wesleyan Methodist Church
sanctioned the enlargement of the Chapel and this work was completed in
1889. The enlargement increased the seating capacity of the chapel by
sixty.
Shortly after the enlargement of the chapel, in 1896-97 a pipe organ
was installed by Nelson & Co., Durham, at a cost of £146.
In 1937 the Chapel held its Fiftieth Jubilee.
In 1952, electric lighting was installed, together with an electric
organ blower.
The Chapel celebrated its centenary in 1987.
In 2001 the Chapel was converted into a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom
house.
